WOODY'S MUSEUM, CROSS PLAINS, TEXAS

Brenda and I were headed to the Stanaland Reunion at Brownwood and had to go through Cross Plains to get there.  Brenda is always game for stopping at places and looking and then hurtling  on down the road to the next destination. As we drove through Cross Plains, we noticed an interesting building called Woody's so we turned around and went back and I am so glad that we did. I wish I had taken more pictures because the place is phenomenal. There are 27 vehicles in the lower part of the building, all displayed in an amazing way with manikins dressed in the era of the automobile. Upstairs is baseball memorabilia with items from Ty Cobb and Babe Ruth to the present day. There is a gift shop (all money goes to charity) and a diner for group tours (reservations only).
This Cadillac was the best, and my favorite. It sits on a turn table that rotates slowly so all you have to do is stand there and admire this beauty as it turns 360 degrees.
This is so beautiful!

1929 Marmon looks like is taken from The Great Gatsby.

Brenda and the Marmon.
We had a Chevy station wagon like this--same year, different color.

I can't help but be a little sad when I look at these gorgeous cars and know that they were built in the USA. The cars we drive now are so boring compared to these and who knows where they are made. I loved the exhibit; I love fine things and beautiful things, so I got my fix right here in Cross Plains.
Now you know! If you are near Cross Plains, and love old cars, stop in at Woody's.  I wish we had taken more time to shoot photos and look, but we had to rush on.  After all we had a Stanaland reunion to take in.
